Cowboy’s Pride Rescue Foundation has been a long time in the making. Founder and president, Jessica began rescuing animals before she could speak a full sentence. Bringing in hurt birds, frogs and anything else she could find. With the help of her mother Cindy, she would nurse them back to health and set them free with an amazing success rate for such a young child.
With the passion for saving animals in combination with being raised on a ranch with horses which she learned to love at an early age, it was only a matter of time before she would start a horse rescue. She has been riding since before she could walk and was raised on a palomino rope horse registered with the name Cowboy but who she affectionately called “Yella”. The love shared between that good ol’ horse and her was undeniable. Yella died at the age of 36 shortly after Jessica got married to her wonderfully supportive husband Ricky. Though it was a very sad day a new passion was sparked. Jessica began actively rescuing horses and finding them loving homes. Due to the loyal service Yella provided Jessica for many years and him strengthening her love for horses in the years they spent together, the rescue has been a tribute to him - Cowboy’s Pride.
Most of the horses came from auctions or were purchased directly from the killer buyers in the beginning. Since then the rescue now also accepts horses from owner’s who surrender their horses when they can no longer care for them and are in the works of taking in seizure cases through the animal welfare and county sheriff departments.
The only way for the rescue’s efforts to continue is for people like you to get involved. Spread the word, make a donation, donate your time. Rescuing animals, especially animals as costly to care for as horses, is a group effort that all are welcome and needed to become a part of.
The rescue is also holding several horse care classes and clinics that everyone in the whole family can find an interest in. These classes include our Equine Science Classes which cover basic horse care, horse handling and riding lessons from beginner to advanced. There will also be Clinics held on the weekends starting in spring that the whole family is invited to join. Private lessons are also available during a time convenient for you. These programs are offered in hopes of educating the public on proper horse care and handling to help prevent neglect and abuse.
The rescue holds fundraisers throughout the year including a spring trail ride, a Christmas horse raffle and a Fall festival just to name a few. Make sure you join in on the fun and help the rescue at the same time by being a part of all their fundraisers!
