Just a quick update to let everyone know that Pixie is doing great. She is really coming along and growing so quickly. I will post new pics of her with in the next few days.
We’ve also had a lot of inquiries about adopting her and people wanting to take her, so, just to let everyone know, we will not consider making her available for adoption until she is fully weaned, it is very hard to successfully raise a foal and I couldn’t live with knowing something happened to her. When she is weaned (in apx. 5 months) we will have a board meeting to discuss her future- wether she will be placed up for adoption or if we will use her in programs we have wanted to be involved in that she would be perfect for (therapy and childrens programs).
Keep checking back for updates on her as she grows and matures!

Our newest little addition was just the right size to take a quick field trip to the offices of Chaparral Energy to help us say “Thank You” for the wonderful and very generous donation they gave to the rescue. They were kind enough to donate a large amount of pipe for us to use for fencing and the construction of new stalls, both of which are desperately needed. With the donation of the pipe, it saved us thousands of dollars that we were then able to use directly on the horses for feed, hay, vet and farrier services, etc. I would like everyone out there to know what a wonderful, caring company this is and what an impact their decision to give had on so many horses fates.

Thank You Chaparral

Only true animal loving executives would let a horse in their office!! - The date is wrong in the pic, this was taken on 6/2/09.
We are proud to add Chaparral as one of our “Platinum Sponsors” and are happy to shine the spotlight on their generosity.

If you or your company are interested in becoming a sponsor, please contact me.

Rescuing horses is not a prestigious job, it is a job of long hours, no pay and hard work. When you love horses though, it seems to be a part of you that you just can’t shake. Anytime you see a horse in need, there is something deep in you that begins to stir and just won’t quit until you have exhausted yourself in everyway - physically, mentally and financially in an attempt to make a difference in even just one needy horse’s life. Well, I love horses, everything about them, their soulful eyes, the distinct smell of both a horse and a freshly bedded stall, their warmth on a cold winter day, and the feeling of freedom they bring.
As a lover of horses and being overwhelmed with the desire to make a difference in a malnourished, abused, injured or sick horse’s future, I began rescuing these majestic animals several years ago. Over the past 2 years, I have turned my “on the side hobby” into a full blown horse rescue foundation known as Cowboy’s Pride, in honor of “Cowboy”, the wonderful gelding who I grew up on. Cowboy’s Pride has been approved as a 501(c)(3) and therefore ALL donations are tax deductable. Over 300 horses have been helped since 2005 and I hope to be able to continue to help any horse in need for a long time to come. We are very proud to have a current record of never having to turn a horse in need away and I can only hope that with your help we will be able to keep that record.
Our “regular” monthly expenses have been exceeding $3500 for the feed, hay and supplements needed to care for so many horses, de-wormer costs, vaccinations for incoming horses, farrier services, and vet visits. As all horse owners know, expenses rarely stop at the “regular” costs and there are so many other unexpected expenses that end up coming up, which unfortunately we have been hit pretty hard with over the past month. In the storms that just kept hitting Eastern Oklahoma County over the past months, we lost 2 shelters and a barn in the destruction- estimates have been given to us totaling over $25,000 to reconstruct and/or repair the damage. One of the shelters was blown onto a fence which will also have to be replaced. We also currently have 3 flat tires on our good trailer, plus the spare is flat, and do not have the money to replace them. The other trailer needs work done to it including a new floor.
For years we have quietly paid these expenses ourselves with annual donations totaling less than $1000 on average. If we could make these payments ourselves, we would, but the time has come that we will not make it without the help and support of caring people out there. If you feel drawn to help in any way, please do, every penny, every prayer and every good thought is greatly appreciated. If you can’t give financially right now, please, pass this around to everyone you know, post it for more people to see, or visit our website’s ways to help page for other ways to help. We also need donations of hay right now as well as de-wormer pastes, fly spray, etc. We appreciate every donation, no matter how small you may think it is, even pennies add up to dollars. You can make donations through Paypal by using a credit card by clicking the “Donate” botton. You can also mail checks payable to Cowboy’s Pride Horse Rescue Foundation (CPHRF) at P.O. Box 116 Luther, OK 73054. Remember, ALL donations are tax deductible, just get in touch with me after making your donation and I will get a reciept in the mail to you. I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this. Please contact me if you have any questions.
Thank you in advance,

Baby Pixie and Cody Pixie and Cody Pixie and Cody

We took in an “orphaned” baby miniature horse yesterday that is truely one of the cutest animals we’ve ever seen. Her mother for whatever reason rejected her shortly after birth so we are now caring for her. It is very difficult to successfully bottle raise a baby foal, but we have beat the odds before and hope to again with this little sweetheart. I will try to update daily to let everyone know how she’s doing. Our volunteers love her and she steals the heart of everyone who meets her. We took pics of her with the belgian just to show how small she is. She weighs about 10-12 pounds and stands about 14 inches tall.

Check back for updates on her progress!

Baby Pixie and Lillie Pixie and Stuffed Horse Pixie checkin' out the dishwasher

Donations to help with her care as well as the care of the other horses in need are greatly appreciated and as always, tax deductible. If you are able, please consider donating today! No donation to small, every donation is appreciated - even pennies add up! You can donate by clicking on the “Donate” button to the right of the website or by mailing your donation to Cowboy’s Pride Horse Rescue Foundation (CPHRF) P.O. Box 116 Luther, OK 73054
